A bumble bee and I've no doubt that somebody will contact me with exactly which type it is.

I think this is a Chalkhill Blue butterfly genus polyommatus coridon. The stats indicate that it's to be seen until mid-September but this specimen ws captured on film on the first Saturday of October 1979 at High Wycombe airfield.

A Red Underwing - Catocala nupta - captured on my kitchen window when I lived in Middelburg. The Dutch name - rood weeskind - is more evocative than the English. It means Red orphan.
